Late last night comedian Cedric The Entertainer dropped the news via his twitter account- that TV Land would pick up the second season of The Soul Man!
Cedric Tweeted: “Just got word #TheSoulMan has been picked up for season #2,” Cedric tweeted tonight. “Thank all of you who wrote in and/or just watched me @niecynash bout to Turn Up!”
As you know, The Soul Man, a very funny spin off from TV Land’s comedy Hot In Cleveland, premiered in June as the network’s second highest rated series debut behind Hot In Cleveland among Adults 25-54 and Women 25-54.
The series starring Cedric the Entertainer and Niecy Nash as Deadline reports, debuted “to 1.9 million, behind Cleveland (4.8 million) and Happily Divorced (2.4 million). By the end of its 12-episode freshman run, The Soul Man had shed half of its premiere audience, with the first season finale drawing 992,000 total viewers. The Soul Man‘s renewal comes on the heels of TV Land’s 10-episode order to sophomore The Exes.”
