Cedric The Entertainer Reminisces Over Friendship With Bernie Mac

Posted Aug 11, 2015

Cedric the Entertainer remembers himself beginning his career in New York City and garnering advice from the late Bernie Mac.

The Entertainer told HuffPost Live, “he went to lunch with me, and I was nervous about it, and he just gave me this really cool encouragement…”

He added, “New York is a big city, but it’s not the whole world, so go out there and be you.” That’s what he was like, basically: “Don’t get intimidated, it’s not the whole world, it’s just a place.”

He continued with, “so when I go on stage, it’s one of those things. You see a big audience out there, you think, “They’re not the whole world. I don’t have to be intimidated, I don’t have to be shook.”

The comedians went on to become close friends. Then, they starred in “The Kings  of Comedy” together in 2000. He said he thinks about Mac on the regular when onstage with other comedians who came up with them.
