Brandon T. Jackson’s ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ Officially Cancelled BUT Moves Into Film Development!

Posted Jul 20, 2013

Percy Jackson’s Brandon T. Jackson (Grover) was recently cast as the lead in the Beverly Hills Cop TV show. Unfortunately, the show has been cancelled before it even aired.

Showrunner Shawn Ryan Tweeted on Friday that Beverly Hills Cop was no longer moving forward.

However, he followed up with another Tweet stating that just because the show was no longer in production it didn’t mean the franchise couldn’t be brought back to life.

The show would have focused on Jackson’s character, who was Axel Foley’s son, while he dealt with his father’s prominence in the police department and tried to make his own way in the Beverly Hills precinct.

The show was on track to do well, having an already established brand and following due to the movies that aired in the ‘80s. Additionally, Ryan’s work on The Shield seemed like a perfect prerequisite for BHC, and Eddie Murphy was even set to make guest appearances in the show, including the pilot episode.

Actors such as Kevin Pollak, Davis Denman, and Christine Lahti rounded out the cast.

Sony and Paramount, who are partnered and backing the reboot, have decided to try to continue the story in the form of another movie rather than the TV show. No other information is available about a possible film at this time.

Brandon T. Jackson can be seen in the upcoming Sea of Monsters film, in which he co-stars with Logan Lerman (Percy) and Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth). Sea of Monsters releases in theatres on August 7.
