BET Is Set To Launch 4 More New Shows!

Posted Jun 11, 2013

BET logoIt seems that Black Entertainment Television is not yet done with programming for the new fall season as we just got word of 4 new shows that they plan on launching, one of them with power couple Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil.

According to the report, the Akils will drop an unscripted TV series titled Back to Me with Jeanette Jenkins. The show is described as a makeover show centered on celebrity trainer Jeanette Jenkins and is just one of four new unscripted pilots greenlit by BET.

The other 3 include:

– Hip-Hop Sisters, which will follow femme rappers, MC Lyte, Yo Yo, Lady of Rage, Smooth, Monie Love and Lil Mama, as they attempt to relaunch their careers.

– Gone Gospel, a singing contest hosted by Kirk Franklin, in which competitors are sent to a “Gospel Boot Camp” to revive their careers.

– And finally, Internal Affairs, a true-crime series that focuses on cops investigating their own.

We bet this new programming push has something to do with Oprah Winfrey’s OWN now seemingly rebranding itself as a black TV network, and the emergence of Bounce gaining steam in the viewership among the black audience.
