Bernie Mac- Gone But Not Forgotten!

Posted Aug 21, 2013

Who can forget one of the most famous comedians to ever live? Well, we didn’t, that’s for sure. Since Bernard Jeffrey “Bernie” McCullough also known as Bernie Mac passed away on August 9, 2008, we wanted to take a quick minute to recognize the man during the anniversary of the month he passed away, as he became one of the most famous comedians to ever live. Mac, who also was from Chicago, was one of the comedians who made The Original Kings Of Comedy one of the best stand up feature films of all time. But it didn’t stop there; he had many hit films and TV shows and he left his mark in Hollywood as a comedian who could last in the industry until his untimely death.

With that being said, here is a clip of his now infamous performance on HBO’s Def Comedy Jam that had EVERYONE talking (and this was way BEFORE social media), and made him into a superstar!

Mac suffered from sarcoidosis, a disease in which abnormal collections of chronic inflammatory cells form as nodules in multiple organs, particularly the lungs and lymph nodes. Lung scarring or infection may lead to respiratory failure and death. Mac had said the condition was in remission in 2005. His death on August 9, 2008 was caused by complications from pneumonia.
