COLUMBIA, SC. (September 22, 2014) — Comedian, Writer and Producer, Akintunde will be awarded the 2014 Grady Nutt Humor Award – Comedian of the Year on October 7th in Nashville, TN. during the upcoming 45th Annual GMA Dove Awards ceremonies. Akintunde’s latest DVD, The Whole Truth was released earlier this year on E-One, Arrow-Records, and No Joke Entertainment, and has proven to be the comedian’s fastest selling title to date.
The GMA annually gives out special awards to entities and individuals that have had a significant impact on the Christian and Gospel Music industry. “All of our special awards recipients have made an indelible mark on our industry and we are thrilled to be honoring their contributions and highlighting their legacy,” says GMA President and Executive Director Jackie Patillo.
These special awards will be given out during the Dove Awards pre-show that is being co-hosted by nominees Meredith Andrews and Jonathan McReynolds. The pre-show begins at 2pm (CT) and will stream live at www.hearitfirst.com/live.
On October 6th, Akintunde will join 2013 Dove Award Comedian of the Year winner, Bone Hampton for a special Dove Awards Comedy Showcase at the Lipscomb University Shamblin Theater at 7:30 PM. He is currently touring on The Heavy Hitters Comedy Tour – featuring Bone Hampton, Marcus D. Wiley and Chinitta Morris a.k.a. Chocolate.
