We just discovered that actor Laz Alonso is making some more news, as he is not only starring in the film Jumping The Broom as we reported several weeks ago, but he also just landed the role in the new A&E series titled Breakout Kings, a project that we hear was initially developed as a pilot for the FOX network.
We hear the show is about an unconventional partnership of U.S. marshals and a group of convicts who join forces to catch fugitives on the run, and will shoot in Toronto and go into production in the fall.
The series is created and exec produced by Prison Break veterans Nick Santora and Matt Olmstead. Also exec producing are Peter Chernin, Katherine Pope and Gavin Hood, who directed the pilot.
As you recall, Alonso is fresh off his lead role of Tsu’Tey in 20th Century Fox’s huge film Avatar, and was recently also cast in the new film titled Straw Dogs with James Woods and James Marsden. He also is currently in pre-production for the film titled Redemption which stars Lark Voorhies, Louis Gossett Jr., Sharon Leal and Vanessa Williams.
