In 2013, due to a lack of diverse action heroes of color and gender on the big screen the producers of the new film Call Me King decided to make an international action crime thriller that would travel to every major territory in the world starting with American cinemas.
Although this film was made for $50,000 cash and the majority of the cast and crew payment was deferred, the producers never asked our potential audience to crowd fund us. Instead, they focused on making the most resourceful and creative production to reach theaters this action genre has ever seen.
On average, the daily crew consisted of 3 people total, that’s on an action film with a cast of over 125 people. Every single actor did their own stunts with no doubles, no pads, no mats, and most importantly, with no accidents. The goal they aimed to achieve was to produce a multi-cultural, lingual, and ethnic action film with character development and worldly sensibilities.
They are ambitious, and they take the blame for that, and they would like their audience to be just as daring and purchase tickets to see “CALL ME KING” worldwide.
The film hit theaters this past Labor Day week in LA and Atlanta.
